Day after day people see news reports talking about accidents caused by texting while driving, yet none of it seems to get to anyone. Texting and driving is not only illegal, but also dangerous. Every day there are people around the globe that are killed in a car accident only because they were on their cell phone. There are multiple people who cause the accident because of texting and driving, while the ones that weren’t on their cell phones are the ones to die. That’s not right is it? Well no, it shouldn’t be someone’s life you’re taking because texting someone “LOL” or “OMG” back just can’t wait until you’re off the road. In 2012 a family friend, Jon Kinsey lost his life to a fatal car accident. Texting, drinking, and driving not a good mix, right? 21 year old Jon had a three year old daughter Myla Kinsey and she is now without a father because of texting and driving. Myla’s third birthday was the month prior to his accident. January 21, 2012 Jon and a couple of his friends where out at a party drinking and having a good time. Hours later they were ready to head home. Five people in the truck and Jon driving, the guy in the passenger seat was Jon’s best friend. He got a message on his phone and it was a picture Jon turned around to show the guys in the back seat. He then hit a hole and lost control of his truck, he hit another truck that then started flipping. Jon was jolted from the truck window, and the other truck landed on top of him. Now nothing to do to save him, everyone in panic as they call for help. That night Jon had been drinking, texting, driving, and had no seatbelt on. The police say that if he had worn his seat belt it wouldn’t have been so bad. Months down the road and another accident happens. May 25, 2012 Cleo Daniel was at a party with a couple of friends, hours pass and she’s ready to go. She grabs the ones that went with her and they all piled into the truck. Cleo was the smallest one in the truck so they put her in the back with four other people. The driver hit a hole and lost control swerving and hitting a tree head on. Cleo sitting in the back with no seatbelt on was the only one hurt in the accident. She was jolted from the truck and slammed into the tree. She was three year old Myla Kinsey’s “aunt” Myla’s mother’s best friend. It’s hard to lose someone so close to you. Two days before Cleo’s accident she was at my house holding my just born niece, and to wake up to know she had been killed.
