Have you ever wondered what it is like to wake up and not know who your family is or where you even at? “Nearly 44 million people have alzheimer’s or a related dementia”(). The causes of alzheimer's isn't very clear but we know the causes of it on the brain. Alzheimer's is a disease that has progressive brain cells failure. There is no cure to it but there are treatments that could help them with the disease.
We may not know the main cause of alzheimer's, but we know some of the things that lead to alzheimer’s. One of the main thing that we know of that leads to alzheimer’s is age. “Less than 5 percent of the time, alzheimer's is caused by specific genetic changes that virtually guarantee a person will develop the disease”(). Studies also show that if you had a family member that had the disease it increases your risk for alzheimer’s. “Scientists have identified rare changes, but these rare changes account for less than 5 percent of Alzheimer's disease”().

Other things to help people with alzheimer’s is to put them into a routine. They should make appointments on the same day and at the same time. Also they should have a whiteboard or a chalkboard to keep their daily routine for them so they are reminded what they are suppose to
