There was a main cause of the War of 1812 was the violation of American shipping rights. The majority of the vote came from the members of the congress from Pennsylvania. The farming regions had suffered some damage to all their markets for grain, cotton, and tobacco in New England. There were other explanations for the vote that they had were they Indians attack in the Old Northwest. They were blamed on the British agent. There were conflicts with the Indians. On the Tippecanoe River, Tecumseh traveled to the Gulf of Mexico from Canada to go form a confederate of tribes to defend the Indian hunting grounds. Tecumseh called upon a council meeting of Creeks, and some of the other southern tribes to “let the white race perish” in October 1811.
