My Quad Life

Improved Essays
It started out a nice spring day, a little dampness on the grass outside. When you walked outside you could feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and the sound of the birds in the distance. To me it was like any other day, but one thing happened. One thing that I needed to work with myself and the surroundings to make sure that I lived. Starting from the beginning, I woke up with a day off of work thinking “ What can I do today?”. I normally take my time getting up and doing all my morning business, but not today. I got up and rushed through everything making sure I had a full day of fun ahead of me and getting work done. I wanted to wake myself completely up with a morning ride on my quad. After about being out for about 30 minutes the …show more content…
There is no stopping yourself when you 're already flying and I could feel myself going over the back from pulling back too far. I ended up flying off the back landing just behind the quad, when it landed it was on the back bumper making it flip head over heals many times that I could not count because I was also still falling. After everything had settled it was just a cloud of dust that needed to calm. I couldn 't see the quad for about a minute. Then when I stood up I felt my body that luckily only bruised and nothing broken. Then when I flipped the quad back over nothing would work other then the lights that ran off the battery. The quad at the time was totaled and I was a long walk away from home with no way of contacting anyone or near any homes. I ended up leaving the quad tucked under a tree and starting my journey out of the woods. Knowing about how I got to where I did I knew what way to go, but not knowing how long it would take to walk it. After following the trails all the way back to my house it was already going on 9pm. I was very tired and sore from the crash and walk, but could not leave my quad in the woods over night because there are a lot of people in the area that could steal it and part it out for

EN 281 Setting and characterization It was about 6 a.m. Saturday morning and it is an extremely beautiful morning; one of the mornings that makes you stop and realize just how amazing it is at that particular moment in the world. Everything from how nice the summer breeze felt on a freshly shaved face, how the cool water felt as it ran between the toes and bottom of your foot, the smell of fresh cut grass in air, the sounds, or lack of sound, that summer brings in when it is perfect outside. It is very quiet, the only sounds you can hear are the occasional birds chirping as they flew by, an occasional car driving by on the road behind you, a fish that surfaces time from time, the gentle sound of the water as the current brings it in and out,…

We are sometimes only able to see the things that we do not have and overlook the things that we do. We take for granted things like freedom, equality, and being able to gain an education. Many forget that these things are not guaranteed to others that live in different places. I realized how fortunate I am to live in America when I met someone from another country.…

It was a beautiful morning in April on solid ground which in one way it felt wrong. My legs were jelly as if I sat in one position for a very long time. I could smell the salt from the ocean. The warmness of the afternoon mixed with the cool breeze blowing lightly tickled my nose as I swung in a white crochet hammock. I could hear the faint sound of the lapping of the lake on the rocky shore. Bugs chirped to say goodbye to summer and the sun cast across the water making it glimmer. I looked across the water to cherry island which I longed to visit but my mom and dad told me no because it was private. I saw the old boat "patches" resting on the grass near the shore drying.…

It was a pleasant day in the bucolic. The sun was shining and a cool breeze was coming from across the pond. I was standing in the grass next to it smiling as I watched the ducks play about in the water. Nobody was around except for the ducks or so I thought. I lived in a little bungalow next to the woods where the scenery was always fetching.…

The Barn The sun is just starting to peek over the horizon, casting soft rays of light over the Earth and turning this usually chaos filled place, into a calm haven. Here I can clear my mind and enjoy simply being and breathing. This is an opportunity never able to be seized once the afternoon rush of people start trickling in. There is not a cloud in the sky and a cool breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. I make my way towards the barn to see my horse before I head off to school.…

I haven't had much exposure to the conversations behind death and prior to my visitation to the resident at Montgomery place, the topics behind death and dying always remained one filled with cautiousness, mystery yet beauty. In a way, death is a solemn yet majestic exoneration and culmination of a life well lived. It was understandable to have an apprehensive approach to this assignment. Although, I did I remain optimistic - having already seen elderly patients in clinics and in the hospital who were approaching the end of their lives, as well as engaging in the discussion regarding advanced care directives - this was different in the sense that I was affirming the end being in sight by actively participating in the topics behind dying.…
