Headspace is an organisation that was designed in 2006 as “a national health foundation”. The organisation was first supported by the federal government to deliver a “youth friendly, stigma free services at a number of locations around Australia.” Headspace promotes that a good mental health is being able to work to your full potential and to be able to cope with everyday life pressures. “The main reason for building and constructing such organisation is to rapidly improve wellbeing constructed of all kinds including, mental, social and emotional for young individuals who are mainly aged 12-25.” Unfortunately, one in four young people are detected with mental health issues each year. Which in many cases led to disastrous events such as depression and even suicide. For this reason, mental health has been undertaken as a serious issue by the government. One of the many obvious changes that young individuals experience is the social aspect. Social features are firstly constructed of family relationships for individuals. Young people see family to be a crucial part of their life. However, as they grow, their social outlook becomes more of their friends. They begin to rely deeply on their friendship relations and their guidance rather than their family. This means that young people are surrounded by many different individuals that can influence their everyday life. Headspace addresses this because “mental illness includes impaired social functioning” this means that as young people grow they come across different individuals that can instruct their mental health in both positive and negative
