I my context I have found people are more receptive to the idea of religious questions than being questioned about one particular religion. I designed my survey to ease into more specific Christian evangelistic questions while still providing valuable data. During my interviews I asked the following questions in this order:
1. Do you have any personal or family religious history?
2. What are your personal views on religion (not interested, to personal / not conferrable talking, curious, actively seeking, content or would you describe yourself differently.)
3. Are you content with where you are religiously?
4. What are your personal views on Christianity?
5. Have you ever been positively or negatively impacted by someone …show more content…
I designed the questions to be relatively soft but still allow people to express their thoughts and think through their religious outlook. Most of the people I talked to had a religious family history and it varied from very involved to the equivalent of Christmas and Easter Christians. Several of the people I interviewed stated they had a personal Christian background including Christian school through high school.
When I asked personal to describe their personal thoughts on discussing religion most stated they were comfortable talking about it but almost unanimously they did not want others forcing a religion on them. The third question I asked started to narrow in on their heart. I got a large range of responses when I asked if people were content but I did not have a single person give me a straight yes which surprised me. The next question I asked was their thoughts about Christianity and I found it interesting that people were a little less harsh then I anticipated and I am curious if having admitted that they were not content in where they were religiously softened their response. A few of the interviews I conducted with people I work with and there are a few respected Christians at my work and it was nice to see their witness reflect in two of the responses that were given. I did receive several negative responses about Christianity including one related to homosexuality, and one related to being to “churchy” and “pushy”. I was expecting to get numerous “hypocrite” responses but I did not which I found odd considering most of the people I interviewed were under thirty. I did have several people say things that amounted to impractical, out of date or
