Web Filters too Restrictive? Do you believe that web filter’s are too restrictive? Web filters are too restrictive because they are blocking websites that have good information that students could use. Web filter s are to restrictive to students, because they restricting us (students) from getting to good resources. They are restricting us (students) from doing there “job” (school work). The youth of today is the society of tomorrow; raise them right, and the world will go on to be a better place. In order to do so, they must have a safe environment brought about by the suppression of ideas, words, or images that are generally considered offensive; this concept is most widely known as censorship and can be. Critically acclaimed, George Orwell’s 1984 is one of the most popular examples of censorship taken too far. I believe that censorship is violating the freedom of speech. Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are "offensive," happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. In many cases censorship has restricted newspapers, television, radio, etc. by not allowing them the right to free speech. In essence, this means that governmental censorship would primarily attempt to stop an unintentional effect of certain speech or expression on the Internet; in other words, the government would be opposing the idea of individualism in society.…

I tend to hear throughout the school day several kids my class complaining about how their favorite movie or game website has been restricted, and that the school is so unfair when it comes to web filters. I think that web filters on chromebooks are not too restrictive because, the students seem to use the chromebooks for the right reason with the filters that are being used currently. By, using filters students have been less distracted in class and attentive to what the teacher is explaining. If kids are watching movies in class with headphones in, they are not able to focus on their education. Another, reason would be many times students tend to procrastinate when it comes to their work, by using chromebooks.…

A copyright holder would be given the ability to turn off access to a Web site if the bills had passed (Topolsky 2). The information proposes that if S.O.P.A. and P.I.P.I. had passed, then copyright infringement on the Internet would decrease due to creators cutting off access to infringing sites. Freedom of speech is an important right and by reinforcing the DMCA we will reinforce freedom of speech. According to Could Congress Shut Down YouTube with Internet-Blacklist Bill? Blocking websites can be a form of discrimination against the owner and the people who view the site. Internet Service Providers have no right to violate the American people’s freedom of speech and without Net Neutrality, there could exist a conflict between the laws. It is supposed to be a safe place to post things like pictures from life experiences. Since these applications are connected to the Internet, once something is posted it is there forever. Even if it was deleted, the company where it was posted keeps a record of it. Furthermore, just because the account is set as private, it does not mean it is hidden from everyone’s eyes.…
