People will start to become fearful of things around them and start to panic more. This could lead to a dystopia because this could lead to isolation. About six million of the people that live in the U.S. suffer from depression according to Mental Health America (MHA) and ⅔ of those will not have the proper treatment to help them. This is bad because this means that people who have depression will get more depressed and will commit suicide, this means that suicide rates will go up. There are many ways that depression can happen. Cognitively, low self-esteem. Biologically, having too much or too little neurotransmitters. Posttraumatic growth is continuing to be studied by researchers and neuroscientists as another way to help people heal and thrive after experiencing trauma. It would be helpful to have more understanding of the factors to facilitate PTG and how to incorporate those into treatment planning and interventions for trauma clients. A future study could be to research and create a PTG assessment similar to the Gottman marriage online assessment, which provides a clinician with a full 50 page report on the client’s strengths and weaknesses and how to use interventions to help the client. Using technology to better assess clients and provide clinicians with effective reports to implement interventions could lead to better treatment for the client and possibly less compassion fatigue for clinicians, especially in trauma work.…

Trauma survivors often experience chronic levels of anxiety, dysphoria and posttraumatic arousal. Many also experience extremely negative emotional responses to trauma-related stimuli and memories; these feeling states are both easily triggered and hard for the client to accommodate internally. When clients are faced with overwhelming arousal or distress they often rely on emotional avoidance strategies (i.e., dissociation, substance abuse and tensions reduction activities), however, excessive avoidance often prevents recovery from traumatic events (Brier & Scott, 2015). One strategy that Brier and Scott (2015) explain, that I like, is grounding.…
