7. There are a couple of ways to minimize the tension between the top-third and bottom-third. Both the top-third and bottom-third needs to compromise where they need to see each other perspective. They need to be able to make a clear and direct statement about their position and the other party can state their opinion afterward. Furthermore, they need to re-evaluate their attitude and emotion when an argument arises. For example, my line sister and I do not get along that well. In this situation, I was the leader of the line; therefore, I was more of the top-third. As for my line sister, she was the bottom third because she did not care about anything. I will praise the top-third member and tell them that I appreciate what they have done over and over again. The top-third member loves to hear praise and to receive awards when they do their job. In this case, the top-third will feel more appreciate than the middle-third and bottom-third since I did not praise them. In order to convey the sense that the commitment level of the bottom-third should not determine the quality of the top-third experience, I will tell them to look at what they have achieved and not look at the bottom-third. Not to mention, life is not fair because some people who work extremely hard can receive the same amount on their paycheck as the bottom-third. It is a situation that occurs daily; therefore, just ignore it or the top-third will just go home frustrated every day. I will keep encouraging the top-third to work harder and achieve more goals in the future.
