Civilizations take many things to start. The Sumerian Civilization was labeled as the first civilization because they had the supplies and resources that are needed to start a civilization, such as people, food, and writing.
The people that the Sumerian Civilization had did special jobs for the civilization. A job that civilians did that helped the civilization grow is farming, which leads to the growth of crops. A surplus of crops helped out the civilization, because they needed food to survive. Lastly, writing was very important in the Sumerian Civilization. The writing that they used was cuneiform, which was invented in the year 2450 BC. Cuneiform helped develop the thousands of languages that we have today, and it also helped the Sumerians
