Some groups in the religion accept children who their father is a Jew instead of their mother. People who are not born as Jews can convert to Judaism but it is not very easy to convert. The rights of Jewish babies differ between male and female just like many other religions. Baby Jewish girls do not have to go through the same exact ceremony of initiation as the boy does.
