Comparison
In this essay, it will compare and contrast on the book and film of the novel The Great Gatsby. There are many differences and similarities when comparing both the novel to the movie. Due to the fact that when trying to make a movie off of an novel they try and portray the messages and every important detail but sadly not everything can be exactly the same. But I will only be stating only 3 similarities and 3 differences due to the fact that those certain one stood out more in my opinion.
When comparing both the novel and movie, one main similarity that stood out to me was how Mr. J. Gatsby never gave up hope on his love with Daisy no matter how long it has been since they have seen or spoken to each other. As stated in the movie, “ Your wife doesn’t love you,” said Gatsby quietly. “She’s never loved you. She loves me.” Another similarity is how the portrayed the characters. For example the used the description of the characters from the book and presented those certain characteristics in the movie. And the third similarity is how clear it is that Gatsby will never fit in with the people like Tom ( …show more content…
But in the movie they were close and talked as if they were friends and nothing more. As said in the novel, “ Besides, Nick’s going to look after her” (Fitzgerald 18). Another difference is how in the movie, it is clear that Tom Buchanan tells George Wilson to get revenge on J. Gatsby due to his wife Myrtle Wilsons death. (caused mainly by Daisy with a hit and run) And in the book its not as clear. The third difference is how in the movie, there was no Anti-Semitism indicated by Wolfsheim unlike his depiction in the novel. The differences matter because it shows the same story in a different
