What Are The Similarities Between Soccer And American Football

American football and soccer, or football as most countries call it, are two very different sports. They have a few similarities such as they are both sports that use a ball, they both require hard work and dedication, and both are loved by many fans. However these similarities are very basic and are shared by many sports. This goes to show just how different they are. The playstyle, the overall setup, the location where it is played and where it is most popular, and how it is perceived are all examples of how these sports are different. In American football the objective is to throw to one of your teammates or run the ball into the endzone, which is worth six points and you kick a field goal for one point, you are given four downs to do so and if you reach the first down marker before the end of the fourth down you receive another four downs. This continues till the offense scores or the defense stops them. The offense is given the choice to kick a field goal, which is worth three points. The ball is not …show more content…
The only person that can use their hands is the goalie. You can only score one goal at a time. Anytime the ball goes into the net it’s one goal. A football team is made up by multiple positions, not teams. Generally there is a goalkeeper, a group of defenders, a group of midfielders, and a group of attackers. Each position stays on the field for the entire game. The ball is almost always on the ground, in fact it is the easiest way to play. European football is played everywhere, it is the most popular sport in the world. Almost every country has a pro league and most have a national team. It is mostly popular in Europe and South America but there are other places where it is very popular. A lot of people in the United States see soccer as a “soft” sport and they make fun of it but in other countries it is a gentleman's
