“The Alchemist” includes the important lesson about pursuing Personal Legend, but it absolutely has a terribly ambiguous title! The story of “The Alchemist” is about the main character Santiago’s journey for pursuing his Personal Legend. Also, the main character is not an alchemist. Therefore, the title of the book doesn’t seem to have any relation to the story of the book. However, looking meticulously the main character’s actions and his journey, the similarities between the main character and alchemists exist throughout the story. Even though the reason why the novel is entitled “The Alchemist” does not explicitly appear in the story, the reason can be guessed through the three similarities between alchemists and Santiago: putting Personal Legend into practice, changing worthless things to invaluable things, and paying attention to something around them.
