Looking at the Past and Present to Find Meaning in my Life
Several topics discussed in Humanities thus far are topics Dante seemed to be knowledgeable about; therefore, his interpretation and knowledge he had of these topics would possibly allow an enhanced understanding of how the topics make meaning in my life. Despite the probability that Dante and I would have different experiences and preferences in art, literature, and music, similarities would most likely exist. On my pilgrimage, past experiences would form the foundation for the meaning of my life, and future experiences would enhance how I view the meaning of my life.

The style of Dante’s music versus my music is different, but topics, such as God and love are the same. The primary instrument of Dante’s time was more than likely the human voice, but there are several instruments currently used in music. The topics art topics of Dante’s time and the art of my time are essentially the same as well. Some of the literature is probably alike, as Dante more than likely read epics such as The Iliad and The Aneied, works that are familiar to me; however, the culture present today is much different than that of Dante’s time, and Dante would more than likely not understand technology mentioned in current literature. Dante would connect to Christianity and the basics of life through my ways of understanding, but he would find confusion with the culture and technology. Many connections exist between times periods we have learned about and my life. For music there is the similarity of worship that was present for the Ancient Romans, Medieval, and Renaissance worlds. I found Gothic art to be eye grasping and made connections with the light of architecture from the Gothic and Renaissance worlds. For literature, I have learned on a much deeper level about love, war, and what it means to be a noble
