After Melania Trump’s RNC speech, even Karl Rove got in on the act, commenting that her speech was “warm and authentic”. Yeah — except for the parts where she plagiarized Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech. One person in the news media I have admired is Megyn Kelly.…

Where innumerable others have failed over the past months, years, decades, Meryl Streep looks to have really struck a nerve with Donald Trump at the Golden Globe awards last night. Not by simply criticising the president-elect for the bullying, potentially violent culture he threatens to bring to American public life. Many have done that before, with equally accomplished thespian delivery, including Hugh Laurie earlier that evening (“I accept this award on behalf of psychopathic billionaires everywhere”). Streep built on that sentiment in her acceptance speech for the Cecil B DeMille award, condemning Trump’s mockery of a disabled reporter in a speech in 2015. But Streep’s masterstroke was to characterise Trump’s antics as…

In Beyoncé performances and lyrics on stage, she always makes a visual and speaks on how it's important to be an individual, your own independent person that is powerful. Although, if women were to be more prominent in the world, life, family and work priories will crash fiercely. As long as women are bearing the children in our species, women will not view child rearing and child care in the same way as men do, and will prioritize the responsibilities around it differently. Women deserve to be prominent in the world we now live if it’s what they desire for; it shouldn’t be that hard to treat women…
