Designer Babies
Designer babies allow parents and doctors to select gender, eye colour, and hair colour. It was originally screened for diseases in the baby. Doctors are tried to isolate the physicals genes of the baby. There are two types of advanced reproductive technology that are allowed on humans the first one is (I.V.F) in vitro fertilisation .Using in vitro fertilisation it allows doctors to reduce the risk that the baby will be born with a genetic disorder. I.V.F allows doctors to fertilise an egg and sperm outside the body in a lab. They are also able to isolate a sperm cell to determine the gender and gene of the baby. The government has a huge say on whether designer babies will be allowed, but I think it’s more up to the public to decide. Why wouldn’t the public want to have the choice on what their baby looks like, if the baby can be used as a donor for a sick of ill child? For the people that cannot have children due to disease from birth. The government has to think of all these factors before putting it into play and allowing the designer babies to be real. The debate from the public is normally more for the NO side of things, saying that it’s unhuman or against nature or its going to become cloning. Professor tony Perry has a debate saying that “there are diseases coded in DNA that are cause by cloning”, some parents will say “I don’t want my children to have these defects”. The UK Medical research council has many spokesmen that are saying testing the embryo at IVF for diseases could be the best way to prevent the Designer babies from getting the disease. The government in the UK are going in deep to decide what to do about the designer baby problems and the positive points also. Hugh Whitehall told the BBC that“. I think it is a challenge, for all of us, we should get looking into this as rapidly as possible.” He also added that “there are issues of governance and
