What Are The Pros And Cons Of Having A Teenage Mom

Teen Mom is a MTV favorite. A lot of teenagers watch this show often. Teen Pregnancy is a huge deal in the United States. Teens would be up late on school nights, have a huge responsibility, and use most of their money. In my opinion that is no way to spend your teenage years. Therefore, TV shows like 16 and pregnant discourage teen pregnancy. Having a baby as a young adult in high school come with extremely hard responsibilites. Going to school and having a baby at the same time do not mix well. One may constantly worry about the baby and keeping it healthy. On top of homework, tests, projects etc., it is a big struggle, and many students end up dropping out of highschool. “Less than half of teenage mothers ever graduate from high school, and less than 2% earn a degree before they are thirty years old” (“Teenage Pregnancy”). Also, It is super hard to keep up with a social life and their child. The girls will want to go out and party with their friends but can’t, because they have a baby to take care of. Other parents, teachers, and kids think they are a negative influence because they are pregnant. “ When someone's a pregnant teen and their abdomen begins to show signs of pregnancy it may seem like everyone at school or out in public may be staring at them. It can become an uncomfortable feeling for them and they might seem vulnerable to bullies” (“Pregnant Teens Dealing with”). Lots of teen moms go to support groups and talk about their problems with people in the same issues to hopefully help. Some people may say that the teenage moms bring it on themselves and it's their fault but that's not always true. It is the bully's fault for making fun of someone.
