Cell Phones Make Us Lazy

The first cell phone was created 43 years ago, and within those years humans have become lazier and more dependent on their cell phones. People of all ages are starting to use cell phones more than ever and are becoming dependent on it, which is making us lazier. Younger people are so attached to their cell phone they more likely to disrupt and cancel physical activity for it. They are also starting to use their phone when they should be learning or socializing. This is becoming a social problem where different people disagree on how and if we should do something about it. They also had them run on a treadmill until they were exhausted to compare the time spent on their cell phone to how fit they are. They found that “Study subjects reported that heavy usage had negative effects on their activity level” (LA Times). Cell phones are not only making us physically lazy, but mentality lazy too. The calculator app on phones has reduced the need and use of mental math because everyone has it and it is easy to use. They are many pros to using cellphones that help us in safer and more efficient ways. With advancements in cellular data and GPS we are now able to get real time maps updates. This is safer than having to look down at paper map while you are driving because the cell phone will give you an audible message that the turn is approaching. This increases the safety of the driver and all other cars nearby because it lets the driver focus more on driving then looking at a map. Cell phones manufactures have seen that phones have been making people lazy, so they created apps they track the user’s fitness and remind them that they need to get up and get exercise. These apps also let the user log their fitness and look at it on graphs to see how they have improved. The cell phone also provides us with information at our finger tips that allow us to learn new thing without being in a library or on a computer. A personal example of this is when my friend locked his keys in his car in a very rural area. My other friend and I took his brothers car to go help get his keys back. We were not going to be able to pick him up and drive him somewhere because there was not space in our car. When we got there it was the beginning of a thunder storm, and was about to get really heavy. We took his brothers car because we know that there was a lock pick set in the trunk but, none of us knew how to use it. I had my cell
