The companies decide to do social good that may be beyond the interest of the firm, with the goal to increase their shareholders trust and profit through positive image. In fact we first met at RMH after a brief introduction at the Children’s hospital. Her family had come from India with a glimmer of hope to help with their son’s cancer treatment. The couple came here with lot of dreams and faced many challenges to help their only son. When they landed in Pittsburgh, they did not know anyone here. They checked-in at a near by hotel and brought their son to Children’s Hospital. After few days in hospital, the little boy was ready to have a home environment and they became aware of RMH. The charity offered the ability to live at a home away from home for this extremely ill boy. Whenever he was in the hospital, he always looked forward to go play in his RMH Home (that is how he called it).
My first interaction with the family was to help them move into The Ronald McDonald House. In the six months of treatment, I remember there were so many little things this family did in this home, which brought a smile to his face. These are little things like books to read, window to watch outside, other kids that he could talk to, and pizza for dinner that would make him feel that he is at
