In Fahrenheit 451 technology has positive effects for the society. Technology controls the people in this novel and keeps them from revolting. Since people spend their whole days in their houses watching their parlor walls, they only see what the government wants them to. This keeps them in line and doesn’t allow them to get the idea to revolt. Before technology people could get ideas to revolt from books that they read but since technology replaced books with parlor walls, the government can now control the people and their thoughts.
Technology also has many bad effects in Fahrenheit 451. For example television made it so people no longer had to think and use their imagination as they did when reading books. People just keep getting simpler
