Immigration is a major problem facing the United States. Every year thousands of illegal immigrants, from around the world migrate to the United States. These immigrants have many different motivations; some hoping to seek the “American Dream”, others are refugees escaping persecution, and civil wars in their home country (Kayne np). The United States has always been seen as the land of the opportunities to many immigrants where all nationalities mix in one “melting pot”. The freedom, protection and benefits that the Unites States has to offer are important issues to immigrants. The freedom to express themselves, to speak freely, and to practice their religion. Although critics argue many negative impacts on immigration such as drug trafficking, over population, and the threat on the American culture , immigrants have a great impact in this country (Kayne np) Controlled immigration can have positive affects on the economy. Immigrants pay taxes and start business that boost the United State’s GPD (Lindsay np). Subeer Bhatia, the starter of Hotmail, was an immigrant from India who started Hotmail with only $200.00 (Lindsay np). Bhatia’s company has had a great positive effect on the United State’s economy (Lindsay np). The solution to immigration is not to deport all immigrants back to their home land. Deporting all immigrants back to their home land could cause a major fault in the U.S. economy and not to mention that half of the immigrants living in the U.S. were bought to the United States as children and don 't speak the language of their native country. The first step to a real solution in immigration is to first secure the border. Without first securing the boarder no real meaningful or change can be done. Building a wall might not be the best idea, but maybe negotiating a deal with Mexico and Canada to have more secure borders. The second step in creating a solution is to be able to create a level of amnesty program or alien worker program (Kayne np). The alien worker program should consists if all guest workers in the U.S. to be identified biometrically (Kayne np). Being able to have fingerprints and other information of undocumented immigrants in the alien worker program will help with the security of the nation (Kayne np). Also the alien worker program should not include rights to the U. S. social benefits (Kayne np). Benefits such as welfare, Head Start, Social Security, and other types of social programs should not be offered to aliens in the worker program (Kayne np). Some level
