Homer’s story of the Odyssey is a lot like a journey through life. My life will have obstacles just as Odysseus had in his journey trying to sail through the tough waves that life brings. Life will have struggles just like Odysseus had his own troubles on his journey back to his wife, I too will have more to go through.
As the story regails, Odysseus has encountered the lotus eater. Theses lotus eater try to keep Odysseus and his crew to stray away from their goal of getting back to their families in Ithaca. Back in 6th grade there was a older boy than me. We were in P.E. and me and my friends were trying to play some basketball. The older kid came over, as I was shooting the basketball he came and grabbed it mid air. He said that this was his court. So my friends challenged him to have a 3 point shot. The person to make the three pointer would play on the court. So him being cocky he shot and missed. I walked up and made the three pointer and defeated him in the challenged and we got to play on the court. This is like the story of when Odysseus came into the Cyclops's cave and defeated him. The cyclops is like the older kid in my life that was trying to defeat me in basketball. Like in the story of the Odyssey and my story we both had to overcome a bigger person.
As Odysseus had encountered the goddess Circe I too will more than likely confront someone of that type. In the story of the Odyssey Odysseus and his crew fall under the spell of Circe. Where they did her drugs and it had ruined there life for awhile. Just like in this story in life people fall under the spell of doing drugs and it too ruined their life, but there are people like Hermes in this story that are there to help people that do drugs.
