A few examples of violent video games which could be used as tools are Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Halo. There are more violent video games I haven’t listed which can be used as tools, but these are the most popular games in the market to show their usefulness. These types of games include heavy violence such as killing, shooting, and stealing where the player perform these actions to advance their objective in a particular game and get rewarded for doing these actions. In these games, acting in an uncivil manner is acceptable, but in reality it’s condemned to exhibit these behaviors in public. The American Academy of Pediatrics states that real life violence can be traced back to exposure to violent video games. This, of course, can be easily falsified due to the increasing number of teens that have been exposed to violent video games without committing any violent offenses. Since video games are interactive and may even encourage role-playing, they may cause teens to lose sight of reality. The guidelines of how children usually learn include adopting behaviors after seeing and mimicking them. However, these findings are inconclusive because not all teens learn the same way.…

The adverse effects from violent media on youth have long vexed the American public. For decades, scholars studied the impact that TV and film violence had on children, and concluded that high exposure to televised violence may lead to an increase in aggressive behaviors and desensitization (Eron, Huesmann, Lefkowitz, & Walder, 1972; Josephson, 1987; Huesmann, Moise-Titus, Podolski, & Eron, 2003). However, technological advancements in the video game industry changed the media landscape, and it was expected that video game violence would have similar, possibly greater, effects on youth as TV and film; thus, video games that stimulated aggressive attitudes, feelings, and behaviors in children were of specific concern. Video games have become…

Gaming is not the way people should spend most of their free time. Free time should be spent doing activities that will grow one’s mind, not alter one’s personality. The need and demand for bloodier, more violent games has continuously increased. As a result, newer video games try to outdo their older versions by increasing the gore and violence factor. Violence in video games only encourages and expresses that violence is the answer to every situation that occurs.…

Although there may be a little violent and gory video games, they shouldn’t be the blame for violence in our country. Video games do not cause violent crimes because gun violence is less prevalent in countries with high video game use, video games have a positive act of kindness and prosocial behaviors, and gamers know the difference between virtual violence in the context of a game and appropriate behavior in the real world. In countries with high video game use, there are far less violent crimes. Video games can make a person feel somewhat guilty and want to try to do something positive to help others. By age…

While playing the game, kids have the time of their life enjoying all the graphic content the game provides. Although violent videogames do expose adolescents to graphic content, that does not mean the viewer will become violent themselves. Videogames should not be the scapegoat for when teen violence occurs. The problem that people are facing is that they are making quick assumptions that since teens are exposed to videogames then they are going to be shooters. In the article, “Violent Video Games Do Not Cause Aggression”, David Kushner explains, “If no one has said there’s a causal link between games and real-life violence, why does it keep making headlines, and why do these get cited so much?”…

These studies include the such studies like the one that took place at Brock University. When looking at these studies you have to be careful on what you read because some studies are exaggerated and/or biased. Kirsh (2003) claimed that “adolescents show an increased need for novelty, risk- taking behavior, and a heightened level of physiological arousal” and that “violent” video games helped them achieve that in a controlled setting. With a combination of exposure to game violence, normative beliefs, and hostile attribution bias predicted physical and indirect/relational aggression, the researchers were able to test their hypothesis on whether physical violence would increase. 26% of their demographic (12-13 year olds) played video games every day, 15% played once a week. 72% of the boys versus 52% of the girls played every day (Medienpa’dagogischer Forschungsverbund Su’d-West 2006). They concluded that within their strongest variable was short run exposure to violent videos because it can “increase the accessibility of hostile cognitions, aggressive affect, physiological arousal, and aggressive behavioral tendencies” (Moller and Krahe 2009).…
