The British, French, and the Spanish all had more or less the same goals coming into the New World for the first time. All three colonies wanted to discover a shorter route to Asia. But most importantly, they all wanted to be the dominant power in North America. Trade markets, religion, and property were the three biggest motivations in migrating.
