There are many events that can shape a person’s life and how they approach
academics. For me one important event was the passing of one of my dearest friends
of over twenty years this past March. My darling friend was such a huge inspiration
for me. She applied to, and was rejected from, nursing school twelve times before
finally realizing that her true passion did not lie in nursing but rather in becoming a
child life specialist. I cannot possibly think of a career that would have been better
suited for a person than that career for Mallory. She dearly loved children and they
just gravitated toward her.
