Secondly, be able to then decide a path to take based upon ethics. This is to rid ourselves of the self-serving bias and instead let ourselves be seen by others as objective as well as by ourselves. This can be evident in the code of conduct and ethics from our employers by comparing out ethics to those of our employers. Thirdly they must want to make a decision that is in fact ethical. The six categories of rationalization which we would like to ignore because they distract from our decision making are denial of responsibility, injury, victim, social weighting, appeal to higher loyalties, and metaphor of the ledger; by appealing to these categories of rationalization we can lose focus of our end goal. In order to create trust one party is willing to be vulnerable to another party with the expectation that they will get something in return in the future. In business, it can be extremely difficult to repair trust that has to do with integrity than one of competence. With competence you have the ability to learn from your mistakes. In order to repair your trust due to competence business or people have to apologize then make another promise for future commitment. Sometimes with issues of competence you have the ability to right yourself. With issues of integrity, it can be even more complicating than that. It makes business or companies you questions your values and future commitments. They may even question if you have values at all.
