What Are The Foil Characters In The Short Story Keith

To transform the short story “Keith” into a Shakespearean Drama I would make Keith and Brian foil characters to each other. Keith would a be very outgoing and loud. He likes wearing bright colors and making fashion statements. Brian would be antisocial on the other hand. Brian would wear dark colors. I would make him a very simple guy that doesn't like to go out much, just from home to school and back home. I would also make their be a lot of chance happenings in the story “Keith” when converting it into a Shakespearean drama. Making these changes would work because they cause the story to be even more dramatic.

Making Brian and Keith foil characters would also help the reader understand both of od their personalities but also to comprehend the importance of both roles. It shows how Keith doesn't have such a good life at home but he tries to make the best of it cause he knows he probably doesn't have that much longer to live. Keith sort of has a you only have one life to live mentality. On the other hand, Brian has a normal teenager life but he doesn't like the spotlight to be on him as much as Keith would prefer.

To transform the short story “Keith” into a Shakespearean drama I would also use chance happenings. When the play begins Barbara and Brian would be walking in the hallways at school and Keith would accidentally bump into her to signify chance happenings. Eventually everyone goes their separate ways and Keith ends up being lab partners, another significance of chance happenings! Later on in the play Keith and Barbara start hanging out often.
