When Claudio was asked when the wedding would be he responds: “tomorrow, my lord.”(Shakespeare 29) That was the plan until Leonato changed the date to the upcoming Monday. Hero agreed to get married in a week with a man she just met. This is a very naive action for she has only had only a few encounters with her new fiance at this point in the novel, therefore knowing nothing about him. It is proved to be an unwise decision because Claudio was deceived into thinking that Hero was having an affair; this makes Claudio swear that “in the congregation where he should wed, is where he’ll shame her.”(Shakespeare 50) This causes a lot of grief between Claudio and Hero (on the day of the wedding). Had Claudio known more about Hero and Hero known more about Claudio, maybe this situation would not have happened. When Beatrice and Benedick found out that they loved one another they did not instantly confess or arrange a marriage. This caused a minimal amount of drama to occur between them. It took the couple until the end of the novel to confess to each other, but meanwhile they learned about each other. It was not rushed, but a slow journey as they learned about each other and their love grew
