One of the five agents of microevolution is natural selection. It influences changes in gene frequencies in a population. Natural selection is defined as a process in which there is a competition to pass on genes. In natural selection, some traits are more favoured than other traits. This may result in changes in a population. The favoured traits become more common compared to the traits that are not favoured. The favoured traits are based upon on the environmental conditions. When certain organisms have traits that make them well adapted to their environment, it increases their chances of survival and reproduction. Organisms that have non-favourable traits die. On the other hand, organisms that have favourable traits survive and pass on those
