On September 11, 2001 a horrific event occurred that would haunt Americans forever. An Islamic extremist group called Al-Qaeda hijacked several planes and carried out attacks on many targets in the United States. In total there were four planes, and four targets. Two planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City, another hit the pentagon near Washington, D.C., and the last crashed into a field In Pennsylvania. The Major deadly attack was on the World Trade Center. The towers collapsed killing almost 3,000, and injuring thousands more. As a result of these attacks many new and stricter policies were set in place.
