Americans have many responsibilities to live up to. Most Americans do live up to these responsibilities, but some don’t. I feel that some of the important responsibilities that Americans are held to are good citizenship, the right to vote, and obligations to our veterans. Citizens have many responsibilities they have to deal with on a day to day basis. Some of these responsibilities include: obeying the laws, taking leadership roles, and volunteering. Obeying the laws is very important. If you don’t obey them then you can get in trouble with the police or other law enforcement. Taking leadership roles is important because people need a leader every day no matter if it’s in your community or in the world. When people help with volunteer work, they are better people and feel good about themselves. A couple of these rights include the ability to vote and the right to voice your opinion. When voting you are allowed to pick who you think is the best person to represent what you believe in, no matter if it’s being president, governor, or mayor. When you turn the age of eighteen, you can register to vote. Being a good citizen would be registering to vote and exercising your right to vote. You are not forced to vote; it is your choice. But if you believe in something that a leader also wants I encourage you to go out and vote. People sometimes don’t like it when you voice your opinion, but that’s part of being American. We always have something to say no matter if it’s good or bad. I think people need to voice their opinions because it might open the eyes of narrow- minded
