In 1861 it seems that all the tension building up between the north and south had finally reached a breaking point. The war had started when the first shots were fired by the confederacy at fort Sumter. The war went on until 1865 with the victors being the north also known as the union. Although this event occurred years ago there are arguments surrounding this war. one of them is could the civil war had been prevented. Many people have their own opinion. my belief is that the civil war was an inevitable and crucial war for the country.
One reason I believe this war was unpreventable was because the north and south had a different foundation to their economy. The north had expanded in manufacturing hence why they were an industrial based economy. However, the south did not choose to follow the same route. Therefore they remain in agriculture and produced items such as cotton. the result of having their economy revolving around two completely different things meant their social beliefs and political beliefs were the complete opposite. which is why the country could not have functioned as one. each side had to chose what was best for them however it is impossible for a country to work as a whole when it is divided into two. …show more content…
