I graduated high school in 2011 and never went to college afterwards. Instead, I went on about my life without a care in the world for my future. Five years had passed, and I realized my part-time job wouldn't cut it forever. I was making minimum wage and could barely afford anything I needed. My professors were very aspiring and helpful, more so than I thought they would be. You hear a lot that college professors aren't like your high school teachers. They don't babysit you or walk you through each assignment step by step. Your success in college depends on you and how hard you work.
The hardest part of college in my opinion is prioritizing your time and managing your work. A student like myself working a forty hour work week could easily fall behind and become stressed over their workload. A good way to manage your time and accomplish your assignments is to spend a set amount of time working on school assignments. Instead of picking up the Xbox controller immediately when getting home, first finish your school work and then reward yourself afterwards. By using this strategy you should have no trouble turning in your work on time. Setting assignment goals is how I got through my first semester without any trouble.
