Many different surveys and statistics amongst low-income communities in these neighborhoods are used to document the seriousness of the problem.
2. In recent years, crime and gang violence amongst the youth in Chicago urban communities has declined steadily, but much improvement is still needed compared to the state of Illinois overall crime and gang violence, which is lower than the inner city.
