A competitive physical activity by nature, running can not only relieve a fair amount stress in your day to day life, but also creates a cathartic outlet to increase endorphins.

Rest up
While running can a great physical activity the “runner’s high,” we feel like we can’t afford a day off, let alone a week. Rest is the opportunity for your body to fully recover from the stress you are placing on it. The best injury advice I ever read suggested that if you are hurting, take three days off. If you’re still hurting after three days, add four more. I can hear the cries of protest, but the only test to determine if you are truly injured is to give your body time. Or you could end up in the doctor’s office with the news that 68 weeks of no running

As an athlete myself, we sometimes feel the pressure to get right back to work on the court or the field in fear of losing momentum or missing practice plays, being replaced, being made to look weak. This is simply not the case. I played for six months with a broken knee cap and had I been forced to get an x-ray before I was allowed back to play, it may have healed sooner and I would have avoided serious pain for years to follow. It may suck at the time a coach or doctor tells you to rest for 7 days, but your overall future health is much more important than missing a few days to make sure you do not develop any serious brain damage that can affect you for the rest of your…

Injury Details Hamstring injuries comprise a significant amount of acute musculoskeletal injuries arising during sporting activities (Canale et al, 1981). Usually, athletics, football and rugby athletes are notably prone to hamstring injuries due to the sprinting demands of their sport. It is, however, a major concern that one-third of hamstring injuries will recur, possibly during the first two weeks post return to activity. A premature return to play and/or a deficient rehabilitation programme are the main reasons for this early re- injury rate (Schneider-Kolsky et al, 2006).…

Hamstring injury is one of the most common soft tissue injuries among athletes of any sports that requires sprinting. According to Verrall (2001), 20% of all missed games in Australian Rules Football is due to a hamstring injury. Hamstring injuries are classed into three; Grade I which is mild involves tearing of a few muscle fibres, grade II is moderate and involves a more severe tear and grade III is severe with a complete rupture of the musculotendinous unit ((Kilcoyne, Dickens, Keblish, Rue & Chronister, 2011). An athlete suspected with hamstring injuries will experience a sharp, sudden pain to the posterior thigh while sprinting and the athlete will immediately come to a complete stop due to the pain. Due to hamstring injuries, an athlete…

My advice to makayla is to never get stuck on one question no longer than five minutes. It's okay to skip a question and come back to it later once you have answer all of the other questions. It's also okay to guess intelligently on some of the questions. I feel that you shouldn't always linger on the same questions, because that can cause you to loose most of you time on the test. John When writing I think John should just write everything out first step-by-step.…

Brown gives a few tips to keep in mind when returning to an activity: going though each movement that the sport requires without pain, no running at full speed, avoid sudden stops when running and apply ice for 15-20 minutes after a workout. The most important thing to keep in mind when returning to a sport is that the muscles in the leg have just finished recuperating and they might not be at their full strength, this being said the tips from Brown should be kept in mind. If there is any type of pain when resuming activity this should be looked at immediately. Athletes who have had a strain the quadriceps before are more susceptible to injury (Brown, 2012) for these reasons precautionary measures should be taking place. Exercise must stop if there is tightness in the leg, intensity of exercise should not be increased by more than 10% each week, and a proper warm-up should always take place before exercise, especially in colder weather.…

After the inability to complete during the time set, I extended it into two consecutive days in the month of December. During the time of completing the goal, I learned some essential facts on the overall effect of running. Some include the overarching fact that with little or no equipment running has lasting effects on the body. Despite the new outburst of year-round schooling across the nation, I have the firm belief that we should retain the traditional system. Most schools who have switched to the year round calendar switched back to the traditional one because the anticipated instructional advantages haven’t materialized. In some cases, it even results in a drop of one to two percentile points in national rank for reading, math, and language scores, compared to a traditional calendar. It is not a good idea to keep making this change.…
