In 1777 the new, young world known as America decided it needed a source of government to be able to withdraw from Great Britain’s control, thus on the fifteenth of November, the Articles of Confederation was adopted. However it was not until March 1, 1781 that all thirteen states signed it. Like most governments there were some who did not have faith in the new laws. For instance, Maryland did not sign the articles in the beginning because they felt it was unfair to the smaller states like themselves.
