What Are The Arguments Against Lowering The Drinking Age

Underage drinking is a problem in the United States. Why do many teenagers drink illegally? What makes teenagers drink and commit outrageous, dangerous activities like drunk driving? What makes a teenager think its okay to break the law? High school and college parties nowadays mostly have alcoholic beverages such as beer and vodka. Most students at these parties are under 21 and if someone at the party were to get into an accident that requires medical attention especially at a high school drinking party, no one would want to call the ambulance or police because they would be scared of getting in trouble. Most teenagers don’t know what they are capable of when they drink. They don’t know the consequences of their action. There would be a lot of more alcohol related accidents like in the 80s. Many teenagers will obtain a lot of symptoms like bone, liver damage and increase their chances of getting a stroke or get cancer and finally new illegal drinkers will rise and cause more problems than there already is. The MLDA is perfect the way it is , it should not get lowered or raised. No matter what the government decides that can’t take away alcohol cause if they do everybody will riot. The only we can do is try to find a safe compromise with everyone and that is leave the Minimum drinking age at twenty one. As a seventeen year old, I personally do not like to drink especially at parties or anywhere. I don’t trust anyone at parties , that is how incidents and crimes happen because if I’m drunk i am unable to defend myself in those scenarios, if the MLDA lowers there will be more alcohol around me and my friends.
