Imagine being a Puritan in this town during this event. Hester Prynne is convicted of committing adultery and the man she cheated with will not confess while Hester is suffering the consequences. The town is debating on killing the man once he is identified. Would you feel any sympathy for the man, Hester, or the baby? Where i stand on this topic is fairly controversial because i don't 100% agree with either side of the possible arguments. In todays world, i think that the death penalty is appropriate for extreme cases. But if i were to be a Puritan during this event, I would wish the death penalty upon Hester and the mystery man.
