What Are The Arguments Against Animal Cruelty

Decent Essays
I was arguing- no, debating- the ethics of animal “cruelty” with my worst enemy, Phineas. He argued that testing plants on animals to see if they were edible was cruel and we should find a better way. I rolled my eyes. I asked him if he had a better solution, then followed that animal cruelty was better than human cruelty. Why waste lives when we have disposable testers right here? It’s illogical and counterproductive.

Nowadays, more and more people are teaming up against animal testing. Persuasive Animal Essay For centuries man has always had the upper hand over animals but animal activists are now trying to sway the argument to prove that animals should be treated at the same standard as humans. Activists are working hard to show that all animals, from the smallest fish to the largest elephant, can feel pain, emotions, and human connections. After reading the articles I have concluded that an animal bill of rights should be added the the United States Government. I believe that this Bill of rights should provide standards and regulations to how animals are kept and cared for, It should also cover laws of what humans should and should not be allowed to to to animals, for example, slaughterhouses versus bull fighting, and finally the bill of rights should not state nor infer that animals should not be treated with the same standard or be “legally declared a person”(Yong 38).…

The scientific community is strongly in favor of animal testing. They see humans are superior to animal life and this belief thus justifies the use of animals in testing. The medical breakthroughs that have occurred as a result of animal testing are also considered reason enough to continue the practice. Support is also geared at protecting humans, not simply producing new life-saving drugs-although this is seem as a priority. Animal testing is a important part of preventing a widespread disaster if chemical agents are released by another country.…

Imagine a person spending their entire life kept in a cage -- away from home, where they are meant to be. Animals in zoos and circuses should not be held captive. Notable reasons why I believe animal captivity is wrong are due to the size and limitations of the living areas these animals are in, the danger these animals possess to humans, and because they are taken from the wild at an early age. Every day, all around the world, animals are held captive under no free will, and every one of those days is a waste of a healthy life for these animals. At SeaWorld San Diego, the parking lot is about twenty times larger than the actual tank the killer whales reside in.…

Activists manipulate many people to believe that any type of thing that pet owners do to their animals can be animal abuse. In fact, many citizens have taken the fact of animal cruelty too far and now will try and get as many people in trouble and arrested for doing things for your animals. Animal violence can now give you a Class A Felony if you decide to harm an animal in any way. Many people have been wrongly convicted for hurting innocent animals, such as Jessica Swain. Many of this lady's neighbors had called the police and notified them of Swain's dog that was outside in the cold for too long.…

Imagine your family pet being enclosed in a small, cold, and dirty cage for days, weeks, or even months on end, only being taken out to be subjected to painful experiments without any anesthetic, as well as the possibility of developing life threatening diseases and injuries. Too many animals experience this on a regular basis around the globe - in fact, nearly 25 million animals will be used as test subjects annually. Animal testing is a horrible occurrence, one that brings suffering to even the smallest of creatures. Many people do not know the extremes of the effects of this practice, which are unnecessarily painful to animals, or that alternatives do exist, and that the results are not always accurate and time/cost effective. Experiments…

Snowball and Napoleon continue their debates, the greatest of which occurs over building a windmill on a knoll. Snowball argues in favor of the windmill, which he is certain will eventually become a labor-saving device; Napoleon argues against it, saying that building the windmill will take time and effort away from the more important task of producing food. The two also disagree on whether they should have a armory of guns or send out more pigeons to neighboring farms to spread news of the rebellion. On the Sunday that the plan for the windmill is to be put to a vote, Napoleon calls out nine ferocious dogs, who chase Snowball off the farm. Napoleon then announces that all debates will stop and makes a number of other new rules for the farm.…
