The Second World War, also called WWII, was a war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. When it comes to war, the first thing you think about must be the expense and casualties. It is known to us all that WWII was one of the largest and worst wars. But I hold the view that although a large amount of people were killed during this war, there were some positive effects to American people. In the political front, America had become the most powerful country, a superpower from then on. WWII was an essential turning point in American history, for which it established the international order led by itself through signing the Yalta Agreement. Not only music but also films were influenced by the war. Music was served as a purpose in the wartime. It inspired people’s spirits and consoled sorrow and gave them power to combat with the enemies. Lots of songs were recorded during WWII in which the main themes is patriotism. For example, the song, This Is My Country, written by Don Raye and performed by Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians in 1942 expressed the love for his motherland, America. On the other hand, film also referred to something encouraging. It introduced new superheroes who made great contributions in WWII, such as the movie, Captain America. Media became increasingly popular among American people. Last but not least, the civil rights movement had been inspired when American defeated Germany who held the idea of discrimination during WWII. Since American people had just won in the war which against Nazis, many African Americans then thought that they had the right to ask for his fair right and a better life in America. And many white American stood on their side to support the desegregation, speeding the progress of civil rights
