College requires a lot of time, and some people do not have all the required time to go and attend one to three hour lectures every day of the week. The lecture time and the time of travel is a lot of time going into education. If a student has a busy schedule at work or being a dependent for someone, then they cannot spend all their time going to class, attending the class, and doing homework for that class. Online courses are perfect for students who lack time because online courses are convenient. According to Jung-Wan Lee, “Studies on online education demonstrated its potential as well as its positive impact on students owing to the flexibility and convenience offered by online classes” (Lee). Online courses do not require a classroom or use of any utilities so that takes a significant amount out of the cost for the course. In agreement with Jung-Wan Lee “ The professor is not required to go to a classroom everyday so the university can pay the professor less than a classroom professor” (Lee ). Online courses save money for transport. Based on what Kathy Michael says, “Online classes further contributed to the reduction of travel costs (i.e. petrol, parking, airfares) for students and staff, as well as omitting the need for staff replacement costs” (Michael ). Lastly, since there is no classroom, there is no need to buy supplies for class because students can take notes on the computer and the book may not be necessary. This is helpful for everyone because the cost for college is already expensive and a way to cut the cost is useful for everyone. This helps those who are not financially stable who cannot get financial aid. Anything that is cheaper and can get the same education is a positive thing for any student in college. This option is good because this can allow students to complete their general education courses with little to no cost and they can leave college with the majority of their debt from the courses from their major …show more content…
There are issues with both and they share the same problems. However, online classes have more benefits than traditional classes. Online courses will be beneficial to everyone because the courses are far cheaper than tra1ditional courses. Online courses are a far better alternative for a general education and students will not have to waste three to five hours at campus for a class they can do at home. The time required for classes are far less than a traditional course. It is a major convenience for everyone since there is not a required set time to complete a course or place students are required to go to every day. Finally, students are able to do work at their own speed and are not held back by other students. Online college students must develop time management skills and that makes the students better their skills or they will fail. Universities should have more online courses because they are actually useful for students and students should be allowed to be a part of this new
