Standardized tests are good at measuring students' knowledge, skills, and understanding because they are fair, efficient, and comprehensive. For these reasons, they are used for decisions about admission to colleges, graduate programs, and professional schools as well as qualification and licensing for many skilled occupations and demanding professions such as law and medicine. Given the misleading information and expressed views of some politicians and union leaders, it is worthwhile to review here the more specific reasons for using standardized tests. Students benefit perfectly when they take tests that give information on how well they have mastered the material intended for learning. Standardized tests are fairly and comprehensively measure student performance. Directly benefiting students while holding teachers accountable. Students who study for a standardized test are more likely to complete their homework and watch less television than their peers. Standardized test taking develops habits that will help students not only with the test but throughout life. Well I had my answer. Standardized or any test from the state are putting pressure onto teachers. Therefore, tests by the state in my opinion should be voided because it puts a toll on teachers. “With extensive use of coaching, test scores may not even reflect true gains in the narrow subject to test prep” (Teachers and Ethics, 2016). An article called “Teachers take an ethical stand against testing” stated that schools and distracts across the country have been caught cheating: Teachers were changing test answers or giving their students test problems ahead of time. Teachers have been pressured to teach the right skills. While teachers have a big responsibility on whether their students pass or fail, the test scores reflect on who’s teaching them the right tools. Standardized testing can also reflect on teachers’ pay: “teachers’ effectiveness and compensation are increasingly being tied to students scores” (teachers and ethics 2016). Florida has not been the first state to propose linking teachers pay to student’s performance. Incoming teachers and current teachers’ jobs would be dependent on them receiving satisfactory rating to receive a good pay. This has made new teachers and old teachers more aware on how to teach or what to know before standardized tests come around the corner. Teachers and parents have much higher expectations and demands for the public education
