Life Goals Research Paper

My life goals are to complete my Graduate Program in School Psychology; this would lead me to fulfill my second goal, which is to become an independent individual who can be economically self-supporting and self-sufficient doing something that I enjoy and, in the meantime, helping the young generation. My third goal is to have a family of my own with a husband who is caring and devoted to his family. My first goal, at this time, is the most important one for me because this one can lead to other goals being accomplished or realized in the future and it is the one that I have the most control over. Seeing these students read more fluently and with more comprehension by the end of a few weeks after I have worked with them on a regular basis is a thrilling event. I am always trying to figure out why the students are not reading fluently. These are all rewarding activities which have created a love, not only of working with students, but also in students’ learning deficiencies and difficulties so that I can help students be better readers and better students in the future. Intentional self-regulatory (ISR) skills and Selection, Optimization, and Compensation (SOC) are, according to our textbook, important skills that are developed during adolescence. Such skills are goal oriented behaviors which can help you take advantage of a bright future. ISR can include skills such as selecting a goal for the future and knowing how to take advantage of one’s assets to achieve a goal, and then compensating by changing the goal when the original goal fails.
