What Are Leonardo Da Vinci's Major Accomplishments

Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano, Tuscany. He was raised by his father, Ser Peiro, and his uncle due to his mother being a peasant. Although Leonardo didn’t receive any formal education, at the young age of 15 his father recognized his artistic talent and apprenticed him to the renowned artist Andrea Del Verrocchio. He stayed with Verrocchio until he was able to become an independent master in the year 1482. Da Vinci then moved to Milan and began to work for the Sfzorsa clan as a designer, architect, sculptor, and engineer. Milan however, was invaded by the French in 1499, so Da Vinci went to live in Florence. In Florence, Leonardo began independent painting and sculpting. He stayed in Florence until 1506 when he returned to Milan with a small group of his own apprentices. Some of Leonardo’s most famous works are “The Mona Lisa”, “The Virgin of The Rocks”, and “The Last Supper”. Da Vinci created many more works of art in his lifetime, but sadly there is no trace of them besides the sketches in his later discovered notebooks. In Leonardo Da Vinci’s later life, he moved to Rome where he quietly resided and only painted or sculpted for his own entertainment. He died on May 2, 1519 in France. Even though Da Vinci is long gone, he will always be remembered for his revolutionary way of thinking, painting, and sculpting.
