George Washington, in my opinion, contributed more to the presidency than Thomas Jefferson because he was the first elected president. Washington had to face the difficulty of constructing a government without any guidance. He valued the people of the United States rather than thinking of the people as a means to an end. Washington enforced laws and created a working government based on the constitution without creating an autocracy. He has achieved many great achievements during his presidency. For example, Washington believed the way the farmers acted during the Whiskey Rebellion was not an appropriate method of protest. He sent the army after U.S citizens to show that people of the United States should not go against the government’s decision.
