What Are Football Gears Avoid?

Imagine you are a college football player in the 1860’s when it was invented. You are handed the ball and you are running through the pack when you slam head first into a 300 pound defensive player. From that day on you cannot move the rest of your body because a spinal fracture in you neck. Luckily today, players are much less likely to do this because of how football gear has improved. Football gear long ago had many issues, solved, by modern equipment.
The first type of football gear added into football was the helmet, in 1890. This long delay was because of how the idea of football was inspired by rugby, in which they use no protective gear. The helmet was originally hand made from leather, and was mainly only used to protect players ears.
