This movie is about is based on the baseball player Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the first African American baseball player to play in the major leagues. In this movie it tells the story about how Jackie Robinson got signed in an all white league and how the general manager had faith in him. It shows all of the struggles to he had to deal with when it came to racism. There are four main characters that have huge roles in the movie. They are JAckie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese (Shortstop), Branch Rickey (General Manager), and Leo Durocher (Coach). The setting of this movie is in multiple baseball stadiums across the United States. In this movie the gender egalitarianism is very low in this movie. It is low because throughout the whole movie there is no female workers. For example, all of the press at the games are men. Also, all of the females are stay at home moms.

Throughout this film they is many different examples of racism that is being shown. The most racist part that I saw in the movie was when the opposing coach was calling Jackie the N word for his whole at bat. This scene is related to race.

Jargon is special words or expressions that are used for a particular group of people. This is shown throughout the movie. There are two examples that really stood out to me while watching., the first one was the use of the N word to Jackie. He kept calling him it and this was a big word for white people to call African Americans back in the day. Another example of jargon was when they called him “boy”. This was shown very good in this movie. One example that they used was when Robinson got out during on of the games he was so mad, that he wanted to confront the coach who was talking bad about him. But he decided not to show everyone that he was mad and went down into the tunnel and started to yell, break his bat, and cried. Another example was when he was getting thrown at while he was batting. He could have easily started to try and fight the guy, but he decided to not do it and get a base hit. This actually made his face better. That is how maintaining face is
