They are “...trained how to torture [and] ...trained how to kill. It’s all you know...Fitting into the community is a big challenge.” (Blue and Woodward 2) They won’t be the same person as before, and it might be hard for them communicate with people they knew before. These children will also be dangerous because of all the things they have been trained to do. However, they are not trained because they want to. The options they are given are be killed or join them. For example, a child soldier named Awil Salah Osman “...was abandoned by parents who fled you Yemen...” (Gettleman) He was left alone and he needed someplace to be his home. Like most humans, he would not have wanted to die so he joined the militia. The militia was able to give him friends and family. Which was something he longed for since he was alone. It is also, hard for children to live on their own because parents guide them through their childhood.
Therefore these are my reasons why child soldiers should be given amnesty. Child soldiers are manipulated, damaged by the killings they have seen, and they aren’t given many choices. We should try to make the world a better place for all the children who are hurt by wars and are influenced to kill. These children have already faced many harsh difficulties, that many of us could not imagine. We should try putting ourselves in their position, though it is hard we realize how tough life would
