What Are Beowulf's Evil Deeds

Throughout the novel, Beowulf battles three large monsters: Grendel, Grendel’s Mother, and a dragon. For each battle, there was a cause for the attack, careful battle preparations, and a bloody casualty. In the end, Beowulf accomplished a great deed, helping others out of the kindness of his heart. Grendel was an evil demon that was terrorizing the people of Herot and Beowulf was the chosen one to fight him. To prepare for his duel with Grendel, he did nothing. He carried no sword nor shield, only his armor and bare hands. As the battle began, people started to cheer Beowulf on. He quickly grasped Grendel’s arm and pulled it right of of it’s socket. Grendel shrieked in pain and ran off into the woods, bleeding out. Beowulf hung his prize up in the mead hall and was praised for his bravery and victory. The King, Hrothgar, rewarded Beowulf for his brave deeds by giving him riches and treasures. Unfortunately, the mother of Grendel sought revenge on those who killed her child and would attack later that night. …show more content…
Beowulf, again, grabs nothing but his armor to go and fight the beast. He chases her to the woods and finds her near the water. Beowulf is given a powerful sword thought to be able to slay the vengeful monster. Grendel’s mother grabs Beowulf and drags him into her lair. They each take heavy blows without any damage. Beowulf notices a sword made for giants hanging on the wall. He picks it up and slashes the beast. She soon bleeds out and dies. Beowulf once again takes a victory. He finds Grendel’s corpse, cuts off it’s head as a trophy, and goes back to the mead hall to celebrate his
